The Next Frontier: Sustainable Project Leadership

Where and when. Friday, 25 September 2026, at the Sheraton Bucharest Hotel. The whole conference runs in English, because the keynote speakers come from abroad. No translation, no headsets.

Who is organising this

PMI Romania Chapter is the official Romanian chapter of the Project Management Institute. We are a non-profit run entirely by volunteers, with 1,336 active members, of whom 873 hold the PMP® credential. We have been running this conference, monthly webinars, a mentoring programme and a student club since 2002.

We are not a conference business. Nobody here is paid, and the ticket price covers the venue, the speakers and the catering.

Why this theme, and why now

Sustainability has stopped being a report appended at the end of a project. PMI now treats it as a knowledge area in its own right, one that cuts across cost, risk, schedule, quality and delivered value, with the same rigour as the others.

  No longer an environmental chapter glued to the end. It sits inside the same decisions as budget and deadlines.

  People, planet, profit

  The project manager no longer balances scope, time and cost alone, but also the effect on people, the effect on the environment, and value over the long run.

• The timing

  The profession is being rewritten now

  As of 5 June 2026, GPM-b became the CSPP™ credential, and the PMI-GPM standards reached version 4.0. Whoever understands the shift now will not be catching up three years from now.

Speakers

All three speakers are confirmed and travel in from abroad, which is why their sessions run in English. The panel moderator and the workshop leads are announced here as they are confirmed.

How the day runs

It all happens at the Sheraton Bucharest, from the opening to the closing drinks. The order is deliberate: we start from the global picture, move through adaptability and industry practice, go hands-on in the workshops, and close by recognising projects that actually did something.

Prices are in Romanian lei. Across the tiers that is roughly 180 to 290 euro, depending on the exchange rate on the day. Payment is by card, through a Romanian gateway, and the checkout works with cards issued anywhere. An invoice is issued for every order, with a field for your company VAT number.

Are you a PMI member? You pay 924.99 RON at the Early Bird tier, 125 RON less. The price applies itself in the basket, as long as you are signed in. Sign in before you buy, or check your account if you have not entered your PMI ID yet.

Getting here

The conference is at the Sheraton Bucharest Hotel, in central Bucharest. Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) is about 40 minutes away by taxi, and Bucharest has direct flights from most European capitals.

Romania is in the European Union and in the Schengen area, so for most European visitors there is no border formality. The currency is the Romanian leu, though cards are accepted essentially everywhere.
